During infant and toddler years, proper nutrition is important to support rapid growth and brain development. Young children need adequate calories, protein, vitamins and minerals to help them meet their developmental milestones. However, challenges like feeding difficulties, reflux, food intolerances, aversions, picky eating, or short attention spans can make it difficult to maintain a balanced diet. Working with a registered dietitian can help identify nutrient deficiencies and offer personalized strategies to support your child’s growth using foods they are more likely to accept. Building a strong nutritional foundation early in life can positively impact both physical health and academic performance in the years ahead.

Working with a dietitian can help you improve your health with their favorite form of medication…..food. Consuming a healthy diet provides significant benefits in prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. It can be beneficial in pain management, reduce inflammation and support mental well-being. Dietitians understand that nutrition is not a “one-type-fits-all” treatment. Nutrition counseling will be tailored to your specific goals, preferences and culture background to support sustainable lifestyle changes.

While there is an overwhelming amount of nutrition information available online, not all sources are reliable—and not every recommendation is right for everyone. A registered dietitian can help you navigate the fine print, weigh the pros and cons of specific diets or supplements, and determine whether a particular plan is safe and appropriate for your individual needs.
-
Yes. I provide support for tube feeding management and can help address common intolerances such as reflux, constipation, and loose stools. I am also able to assist with the documentation needed for insurance coverage of enteral formulas.

Before your appointment is scheduled, you’ll be contacted to discuss your needs and determine whether West Michigan Nutrition Therapy (WMNT) is the right fit for you. During your initial visit, we’ll review your nutrition habits, preferences, medical history, and current medications, and work together to set realistic, achievable goals. Each session includes personalized education to support long-term, sustainable lifestyle changes.
-
That’s Ok! WMNT does not bill insurance as most insurance companies in Michigan do not cover the cost of a registered dietitian. My goal is to make nutrition services affordable and accessible throughout the state. Thanks to the support of private donors and public grants, out-of-pocket costs are kept within reach. Fees vary depending on the reason for your visit and the number of follow-up appointments expected. All costs will be discussed with you before scheduling. Your appointments can be paid through your HSA.

WMNT follows HIPAA’s Privacy Rules. By law, all healthcare information and conversations are kept strictly confidential and will only be shared with others at the individual’s request.

WMNT is located in Grand Rapids. Although most appointments are held virtually, in person appointments can be scheduled upon request.
